How Important Is Mental Health?

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act, and helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.

Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Over the course of your life, if you experience mental health problems, your thinking, mood, and behavior could be affected.

In most cases people with severe mental health conditions die prematurely after experiencing severe human rights violations, discrimination, and stigma.

With that being said the issues of mental health are taken very lightly in most parts of Africa. Victims don’t get special treatment as they are being labeled as “Attention Seekers”. Each and everyone of us can help lower the death rate of people with mental health conditions by just caring and showing love as much as we should. Check on your families and friends and tell them you love them to help save lives cause you never know what they are going through.
